Awareness. 33

Is the key to every door
My choice is not to allow
Anger impatiens or any other
Unwholesome mind states
But it happens all the time
It's a very deeply ingrained habit
Maybe even a biological imperative
When I become aware of the thoughts
That are creating these states
It becomes possible to replace them with
Gratitude and good humor
When I become aware that
I am gulping down my lunch
Thorough chewing becomes possible
And over eating is less likely
With awareness shallow breathing 
Can become deep, slow and diaphragmatic
Directionless thought trains can turn into
Focused attention to the project at hand
Is the key to every door
